HIGHWAY PORTRAITS / RETRATOS DE AUTOPISTA

2011 — 122 photographs

How do you take photographs when you don’t have time to take photographs?

For a couple of years I spent an hour commuting to work every day, and I have always been drawn to capturing moments without interfering with them. Nothing spectacular—just fragments of life. Small, fleeting moments that will be lost, like tears in rain.
With a tripod mounted in the back of my car, a cheap remote shutter I bought in China and a lot of practice, I manage to take this photos in my way to work while driving on traffic.

I am drawn to people in their cars, on their way to work. Each vehicle feels like a perfect reflection of its driver. These images are deeply private moments unfolding in a public space.
